Your Credit Score: Benefits

Credit scores can be a scary or enlightening thing, and if yours is not in a good place you may think you don't need to improve it because you don't plan on buying anything large right? Life changes from day to day, and you would be surprised the things you end up doing or wanting to later in life that you did not before, and may find yourself unable to do so, because of things like credit. Here are some reasons to improve your credit:

1) Lower Interest Rate on Loans and Credit Cards

Credit is a snapshot of risk, if you have lower credit then you are more of a risk. So to cover themselves in order to do business with you, businesses' will have to charge you a higher interest rate. It is always in your best interest and money saving efforts to have better credit when applying for things like Mortgage Loans.

2) Leverage to Negotiate Lower Credit Card Interest Rates

In some cases, you should not ask for things if they are not offered. However, if you have good credit and are looking to get a credit card- you can ask the company for a better interest rate. With good credit, you are worth offering it to. You will save countless dollars with a lower interest rate, and I am sure you have better use for the money you saved.

3) Qualify For Lines of Credit

Lines of credit have so many uses, for example-appliances or furniture. Costs of living that come up randomly and often have large dollar tags, with good credit you qualify for a good line of credit to help cover the costs of those life expenses.

4) Qualify For Higher Limits

The stronger your history, the better case you have for a higher credit limit. With more money to borrow, you can be ready for more opportunities that may come your way.

5) Rental Approval

When looking for a place to rent, it is customary to submit your credit report or let it be pulled. Bad credit with a good story may be accepted, but is a much harder sell. The better the credit, the better your rental application is.

6) Better Insurance Rates

Everyone needs insurance, wouldn't you like to pay less for good coverage? Most people would. A key component to this is good credit.

7) Employment

When one is applying to work for someone, they go through a thorough check. One of these checks is Credit. Strengthen your position as an applicant to get that job so you can have a good life.

8) Avoid Security Deposits

When moving, there are often security deposits from Utility and Cell Phone companies. Before they charge the deposit though, they run your credit. With good credit you will avoid having to pay a deposit since you are a less risky customer to the company.

I hope that any one of these reasons move you to better not only your credit but to better your life in the process. Let me know if you need any help in doing so, and are ready to buy a house with that awesome credit!

Your First Home: Step 8-Protect Your Investment

Welcome to the world of home ownership, besides feeling like you signed your life away-how does it feel? You may find yourself feeling pride of ownership, because you now in fact own something. But with great power comes great responsibility-home maintenance. One of the best resources for you, even after the transaction, is going to be your real estate agent. Chances are, if you need a specific kind of vendor-they have one they trust and can refer you to. Home maintenance falls into two categories: Keep it clean and keep an eye on it. How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Coronavirus

Greetings, Today I wanted to simply jot down some thoughts I had about this novel coronavirus (COVID-19) that the news cycle seems to love to talk about: - Will real estate values be affected? The answer is the same as every real estate question, it depends. I believe luxury will be impacted, I think more modest dwellings will not, and for a very simple reason, there is not more inventory and people have to live somewhere. - Is this our 1987 moment? In 1987 we had Black Monday, the biggest one day stock market drop in history, afterwards, real estate prices went up in a straight line for 18 months. Just like any good investor, when there is a shock to the system, you have to recalibrate, you either go to safety (or even relative safety, like houses versus paper ownership in a company), or you go to what has been undervalued. I suspect there is a good chance this is our 1987 moment for real estate. The 80's are dead, long live the 80's. - The drop in stock price...

Your First Home: Step 7-Close

We got through the home inspection, that was intense. What’s next? Why, title and appraisal of course! We are in the home stretch; you can do this. As the lender is finalizing the mortgage, they are doing a little bit more digging: appraisal to confirm the value, survey to confirm the boundaries, title to verify ownership, and title insurance. Appraisers will look at the home and comps to determine what they think the home is worth and relay this to you and the lender. The lender will only write a loan for the home’s appraised value, so if there is a difference between selling price and appraisal price-buyer and seller have to come together to cover the gap. Therefore, it is important to create a win-win situation, both parties have to work together at times. Survey is to determine where the homes boundaries are and are not. You would be surprised how many times a neighbor’s fence may be on your property due to boundaries of each property being forgotten over time and various homeo...
